Become More Consistent in Your Business

What should you do when you want to be consistent in your content, but you don’t feel like it?

A lack of consistency can be a direct result of a few things, but the biggest factor I see with my clients is overwhelm. They take on too many tasks as a solopreneur and end up burning themselves out.

Could this be you? Keeping consistent in your content is one of the best ways to target potential clients. Why? You are consistently nurturing them by letting them get to know you, your business, and what you’re all about.

I’m going to share a few key steps that I used to create some massive consistency in business (and how it landed me more clients!). Are you ready? Let’s go!


Step 1 - believing in the importance of consistency

Your audience expects things from you. They count on you to provide amazing content on a regular schedule. If you’re sporadic in your posting, your audience will bounce in a moment’s notice. There are a million and one bloggers out there so why should they stick around waiting for you to post?

They will without a doubt follow someone else who is consistently nurturing them through great content. They know to expect an email in their inbox every Wednesday with the latest and greatest from their favorite blogger (this could’ve been you, just sayin’). Staying consistent is hard work, there’s no doubt about it.

First, I want to challenge you to think about the people that you follow and the entrepreneurs that inspire you. Now, think about the ones who don’t. Compare their consistency level, the kind of content they produce along with the amount. Does their consistency determine the fact that you like them or don’t like them? ­­

Now for challenge #2. I want you to try and stay consistent for a couple of weeks and see if you notice a change in your audience. Spoiler alert: you will.


Step 2 - decisions

This is the easiest step because right now, I want you to make just one decision. Do you want to be an entrepreneur who provides consistent content? You can do this. I know you can!

Here’s the thing, I used to never follow through. It wasn’t until I realized that I didn’t want to be that person. I didn’t want to let my audience down have that reputation of not taking my business seriously. I didn’t want to give the impression that I didn’t care about my audience and their wants and needs. Really, I didn’t want to be selfish.

Again, it goes back to step 1. Is the reason you’re drawn to certain entrepreneurs because they provide consistent content? Even though they may not want to record that video or write a blog post, they do it anyway because they know we as their audience expects it. They put their personal wants aside and think of the big picture.

Today, I didn’t want to film my YouTube video. I wanted to watch some Netflix and veg out on the couch. But I also didn’t want to let my audience down. I didn’t want to throw a wrench in my routine of consistency.

It can take just 1 day to mess up a routine, and I wasn’t going to let that happen. I’m not perfect, it’s not always easy, but I did it. I got off the couch and got shit done.


Step 3 - organizing

I am obsessed with organizing. So much so that I already made a video about how I organize my content creation process, and I can’t wait for you to see it!

I like to organize my content into rich content and connection content. Rich content is blog posts, podcasts, YouTube videos, anything that provides some sort of educational value.

Connection content is Instagram and Facebook posts, stories, things like that. It’s a way for you to content with your audience on a personal level, to follow your life, and be inspired by what you’re sharing.

I suggest keeping this simple if you’re just starting out or a one-person show (yay for solopreneurs!). Choose one type of rich content and two types of connection content. The perfect balance to make it work on your own terms and avoid burnout.

One thing I highly recommend is batching your work. Create all of your content for the week on one specific day (if you can). Then schedule it to go out on its respective days and wah-lah!


You don't have to lift a finger during the week because you batched your content like a boss.

The same goes for YouTube creation. I post videos every Tuesday and Thursday, but that doesn’t mean I record each video at a separate time. Nope!

I save a ton of time by recording an entire week’s worth of videos (sometimes more if I’m feeling really productive) at one time.

Only give yourself what you can handle, especially if you’re a solopreneur. You don’t want to create overwhelm because that’s only going to make matters worse. If you know you can only handle a few days a week, keep it at that until you’re ready to outsource a few tasks.
